Directed by Steven Spielberg, 1984
1. Would you say that anything goes when it comes to an Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) film? We wouldn't, but we've come to expect the unexpected. If Lao Che (Roy Chiao) did the same, he may have anticipated this move.
2. Speaking of What ifs? What if Short (Ke Huy Quan) remarked, "He save your life, lady. You not thank him?" in the chapter entitled The Getaway. We've already given you one reason why she didn't. Name another.
3. Indy owed someone else an apology, as well. Who, you ask? Here's a clue: The person was either minding their own business, or just doing their job. You could also say they just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
4. It's not every day that you see someone get skewered with a flaming shish kebab. How did that person's appearance differ from Lao Che's?
A. His hair was combed back
B. He was wearing a black bowtie
C. There was a white carnation pinned
to his lapel
5. Willie (Kate Capshaw) met Indy in a nightclub called Obi Wan, an obvious reference to the Star Wars franchise. Was the club located in Bangkok, Beijing or Shanghai?
6. Remember the urn that Indy traded away? He told Lao Che that it contained the ashes of the first emperor of the Manchu Dynasty. Was that a lie?
7. Indy could have thrown a glass of cold water in his face to keep himself alert when the poison started to kick in. What did he do instead?
8. Willie didn't suffer from short-term memory loss. So why did she turn to Indy and exclaim, "Who are you!" after the melee?
9. Picture this scenario: You're behind the wheel of a getaway car that's racing through a crowded city street. Behind you, and closing in fast, are the men who are after your partner. Neither of you want to see any harm come to an innocent bystander, but if someone has to get knocked on their ass to dodge a bullet, so be it. How did Short deal with the same situation?
10. If the getaway car crashed (we're surprised it didn't given who was behind the wheel) and the three were forced to flee on foot, Short wouldn't have gotten very far. Tell us why.
11. What did Art Weber (Dan Aykroyd) mean when he told Indy, "We've managed to secure three seats, but there might be a slight inconvenience?"
12. True or False: Indy promised to buy Art a drink the next time he saw him to thank him for his help, but he never said "Thanks" or "Thank you."
13. Feigning interest in someone of the opposite gender can work like a charm if you play your cards right. What did Indy do after Willie snapped, "Ever since you got into my club, you haven't been able to take your eyes off me!"?
14. File this question under the category of: Someone obviously wasn't thinking. The pilots (Akio Mitamura and Michael Yama) who parachuted out of the cargo plane worked for Lao Che, right? So, why weren't they armed? They could have shot Indy (or at least tried) while he was asleep instead of sabotaging the craft. Tell us how that could have been done without losing the raft sequence.
15. True or False: Jumping out of the plane in a large, inflatable raft was Indy's back-up plan.
16. Indy showed remarkable restraint after Willie exclaimed, "I hate the water. I hate being wet and I hate you!" Was his reply, "Do I look like I care?" "Good" or "If you think you hate me now, just wait"?
17. This, as you may or may not know, is the story of a not-so-common housefly named Johnny Brundle. All Johnny ever wanted out of life was to see his name on the silver screen, along side the likes of Eastwood, Connery and Gibson. But as time went on, Johnny found out, "It ain't easy being a fly." Undeterred by his handicap, he pressed onward, scratching his tiny little brain for days - weeks - months on end until he came up with a clever idea. "This'll show 'em!" he boasted. Johnny's dream did come true. In part, due to his persistence, and, well, ironically enough, his ability to disappear within a scene. "It was quite simple, really," as he recalled in his memoir, The Biggest Buzz in Hollywood. "I'd look for a spot on the set where I could blend in and wait for the director to call action." So you see kids, if a maggot can grow up to fulfill his dreams, so can you. Now that you know the story, let's see if you can find the little guy. It shouldn't be too difficult if you remember the words, "You're insulting them and you're embarrassing me." What was he instructed to do?
18. Did the Indian Shaman (D.R. Nanayakkara) blame himself for the plane crash that almost killed Indy? The reason why we ask is because he thought his prayers were answered.
19. What did Indy say to Short when Short asked Indy what the word "Sivalinga" meant?
20. The crops withered when the stone was taken from the village. What else happened?
21. What did the stone's three lines represent?
22. Some of the children would have gotten away if they weren't left alone. What diversion distracted the men of the village?
23. Let's say the special edition DVD came with a Jump to a Scream option. The menu would include the vampire bat that mistaken for an article of clothing, but not the cluster. Tell us why Willie didn't lose her composure then.
24. What were Indy and Short arguing about while Willie was screaming for her life?
25. How did Willie discover Indy's fear of snakes?
26. The manuscript that Indy pieced together depicted two individuals. One was the Hindu god, Siva. Who was the other and what did the manuscript read?
