MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL  Directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, 1975
1. Two apologies were offered during the film's opening credit sequence for the fault in the subtitles. If you ask us, there should have been three. Tell us why.

2. What was Patsy doing when the film began?

3. Arthur's symbol adorned the cloak he wore. It was also on his servant's cloak. Did it appear anywhere else?

4. If the story were set during the time of the plague, the Dead Collector would have been wealthier than the king, himself. How much was he paid for the service he provided?

5. What was the Dead Collector referring to when he remarked, "I can't take him like that. It's against regulations"?

6. Arthur never told the Dead Collector that he was a king. It was just an educated guess. What was that assumption based on?

7. "Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords is no basis for government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses. Not from some farcical aquatic ceremony." Who was talking to whom when those words were spoken?

8. Was going around the bridge an option when Arthur encountered the Black Knight? The reason why we ask is because if it was, why would he choose to put himself in harm's way?

9. A sword is as much a status symbol as it as weapon. The Black Knight's was certainly intimidating. But it also appeared to be a detriment. Tell us why.

10. What did the Black Knight say to Arthur after his legs were hacked off?
  A. "All right, we'll call it a draw."
  B. "'Tis just a scratch. I've had worse."
  C. "You're not gonna leave me here like this,
  are you?"
  D. All of the above

11. Would a witch bitch about being hitched to a foul-smelling troll named Mitch if it allowed her to pitch - that old, black magic? Our guess would be yes, she probably would. If that makes no sense, read it again. What you're looking for is a clue to the test that Sir Bedevere wanted to perform.

12. Fill in the blank: Some believed the world was flat. Sir Bedevere thought it was the shape of _________ .

13. Got a Post-it Note? If not, we'll wait…. Ready? Ok, now, what we want you to do is to think of something that would really annoy the Almighty Lord. When you come up with an answer jot it down and then stick it on your fridge as a reminder of what not to do if and when you ever get to Heaven.

14. Pasty didn't seem too impressed when he saw Arthur's vision of Camelot. The question is why? Take a minute to think about that one and then complete the following quote: "Yes, I know, It's just …. What did you expect to see?"

15. Being able to anticipate an enemy's next move isn't always an advantage. What you want to do is to try to catch them off-guard. What took Arthur completely by surprise during his battle with the French?

16. Same chapter, different scenario: You're watching the battle from a nearby hilltop. Don't ask us why you're there. You just are - having a good laugh at Arthur's expense, along with two of your friends. The mocking continues until a voice exclaims, "Sweet Jesus! How the fuck did he walk away from that?" What would have prompted those words
?
17. We don't know what the French would have done if the knights catapulted themselves over the rampart. It was an idea worth trying, though, wasn't it? Is that what Sir Robin was referring to when he remarked, "Forgive me, my lord, for even suggesting it"?

18. Why didn't Sir Bedevere's Trojan Rabbit idea work?

19. Only person in the film rode a horse. If you need a hint on this one, the character wasn't mentioned by name.

20. If two heads are better than one what are three on the same body? Think of some of the problems that would create and then narrow it down to the one that enabled Sir Robin to escape from the Three-headed Knight.

21. We know how you'd react if someone tried to rescue you from "almost certain temptation. Did Sir Galahad feel the same way?

22. It didn't matter what Gandalf said or did in The Fellowship of the Ring, the Balrog wasn't letting him pass through the caverns of Khazad-dum without a fight. Anyone who passed through the forest that belonged to The Knights Who Say "Ni." was expected to pay some sort of toll. Two demands were made of Arthur. The first seemed reasonable enough - a nice shrub that wasn't too expensive. What did the second task involve?

23. The Knights Who Say "Ni" were the keepers of three sacred words. Were the other two "Nay" and "Peng" "Peng" and "Nee-wom" or "Worn-nee" and "Pakang"?

24. What word bothered the Knights Who Say "Ni"?

25. What we want you to do for this question is to shorten the Knights Who Say "NI's" other name. It can't be more than one syllable and we have to be ale to find it in a dictionary.

26. Don't you hate it when you have to explain the same thing over and over again to the same person? Did Prince Herbert's father become increasingly annoyed at the guard who was asked to keep an eye on his son?

27. Why would someone build a castle in a swamp? An ogre might, but not a king unless…

28. They say there's no such thing as a stupid question, but we beg to differ. An example could be found in the chapter entitled The Rescue of Prince Herbert. It was addressed to his father. That's all we'll say on this one.

29. Neo (Keanu Reeves) was told to follow the white rabbit in The Matrix. Where did that creature dwell in this story and how was it defeated?

30. Remember the message that revealed the location of the Grail? Why did Brother Maynard question its validity?

31. True or False: The message was read aloud in the language it was written in (Aramaic) before it was translated into English.

32. We'll give you the answer to this one, you give us the question - The film's animator suffered a fatal heart attack.

33. Here's your chance to ask us another one. Sir Lancelot answered three when he reached the Bridge of Death. Choose one of those.

34. What question stumped Sir Galahad?

35. How did Arthur get across the bridge without answering the old man's question about the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

36. True or False: The Grail was found in the Castle of Aaarrghh!

37. How did the film end?
